About
I’m Tayler Drattlo, a neon glassblower and artist based in beautiful New Braunfels, Texas. I’m originally from San Antonio, Texas and worked under multiple master neon benders in Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina. I opened my own neon studio, Ricochet Neon in 2024. I focus on making wholesale neon glasswork for regional sign shops as well as retail neon signage. I make original neon artwork in my spare time - I am currently working on series of larger neon + multimedia work for Cateye Creative in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m honored to have exhibited my work in their gallery since 2019.
Art Background
I studied neon design and metal casting at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago - SAIC (2011-2012). Since then I’ve been creating, exhibiting and exploring in my neon practice and more recently dipped my toes in the world of porcelain and stoneware.
2020 - I was awarded the Regional Emerging Artist Residency at Artspace in Raleigh, North Carolina and followed my residency with a solo exhibition - “Tejana”.
2021 -I curated the group neon exhibition, “Liquid Fire“ at Cateye Creative in Atlanta, Georgia. The exhibition opened in August of 2021 at their downtown location.
2022 - My solo exhibition “Veiled” opened in Winter in the Chute Space at Atlanta Contemporary, Atlanta, Georgia.
2023 - I co-curated “Neon in the High Desert” a group neon exhibition alongside my good friend and fellow neon bender, Connie Morgan. The exhibition opened in Autumn 2023 at the Nicolayson Art Museum in Casper, Wyoming. I’m elated to now have an original neon art piece living in their permanent collection.
2024 - My solo exhibition, “Gumption & Glass” opened at Lockhart-Post Gallery in April in downtown Lockhart, Texas.
Fun Facts?
The original show “Dallas” is my all time favorite next to “Tales From the Tour Bus” or ANYTHING with Anthony Bourdain (RIP). Roasted hatch chilies, (or any other chilies), are my favorite meal accompaniment. Fortunately or unfortunately, Korn has made its way back to the top of my Spotify playlist, (check out their performance at Woodstock ’99 on YouTube, seriously). Find one of my playlists via the spotify link at the top of the page- no Korn included, I promise. I gave up my instagram for vinyasa yoga and angry birds 2 and can’t get enough lavender kombucha.
